DESCRIPTION:
WW - Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph, "Transitional" Pre-Moon, ref 145.022-69, manual wind, 42mm x 48mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back case, "DON" (Dot Over Ninety) black tachymeter bezel, brown leather strap, original black step dial with white painted Omega logo and luminous painted indices, three inset subregisters for minute recording, hour recording and subsidiary seconds, 17J, cal 861, s#28426885, triple signed. Includes period correct box and manuals as well as unsigned paperwork. The Omega Speedmaster was chosen by NASA in 1965 after outperforming numerous other contenders in rigorous testing. They were first issued during the Gemini program using the older straight lug style 105.002. More Speedmasters were thereafter purchased, starting with the Apollo program astronauts being issued the "Professional" marked 105.012's in a beefier case with crown and pusher protectors as seen here. They remain flight qualified by NASA to this day and modern interpretations of this watch are still in production.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, chronograph functions and resets properly, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, very light oxide to steelwork; nearly flawless dial with evenly faded tritium lume indices; excellent-plus hands with evenly faded matching tritium lume, base of subsidiary seconds-hand at 9 with small ding; unpolished case shows very little wear, sharp satin finishing and lug chamfers, excellent-plus DON bezel, several light dings on caseback; original Omega signed crown shows little wear; good Omega plastic crystal. Inner and outer boxes show very little wear.
